Holidays Finally

• No computer
• No cell phones

Got no spare cash? It's an American problem (Page 1 of 2)

I love this article... this is exactly my point.

Americans who are the richest people in the world have the worst savings rate.
BANKRATE.COM -"Meanwhile, countries such as the Philippines, India, Mexico, Indonesia and Thailand boast the highest savings rates. These countries ranked at the bottom (a good thing for them) in the no-spare-cash department. "

The people who have the highest percentage of savings are probably in a much better frame of mind that the Americans. They don't expect to buy all of the toys that the stores offer.

I think it would be nice to live in a culture that is not driven by the advertising agencies.

It's nice to see another writer, Barbara Whelehan of Bankrate.com who shares my point of view.

Seven Stages of Money Maturity
This is the first site that I'll talk about.
The THE SEVEN STAGES OF MONEY MATURITY®. Author-George Kinder
I haven't read the book, but I love the concept.
"There is another way of living with money, a way of both acknowledging money's useful roles, and also finding a way to connect with our most profound aspirations around money, our deepest ideals, our most difficult emotions, our darkest places, as well as our joys, putting it altogether and understanding what all of our humanness has to do with our relationship to money."

If money's not making you happy, and you're not happy anyways, then you might want to reconsider why you're killing yourself to make money.

Financial Maturity Introduction

Welcome to this financial maturity blog. This is a place where I like to talk about topics that badly need to be talked about. Financial maturity is like emotional maturity, or just plain maturity.

This day and age has everybody working so hard for money that the results aren't as satisfying any more. People are working to buy things to make them happy. they working so hard, the family is disintegrating and they're not really happy with the toys they're buying.

• Are you trying to keep up with the Jones?
• Do you buy whatever you can afford at the moment without any view to the future?
• Are you protecting yourself and your family financially for the present and the future?
• How much time do you spend planning out your purchases?
• Do you have enough savings to cover all of your credit purchases?
• Do you buy stuff just because it makes you feel better, with out any thought of future reprocussions?

These are some of the items that I'll discuss. I'll try to bring good examples from different websites on the internet. Hopefully I'll be able to get some expert commentary from people in various parts of the financial industry.
